American Society of Plastic Surgeons

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons revealed 2016’s most popular choices in plastic surgery procedures.

Have you ever stopped to think about what are the most demanded plastic surgeries in the United States? If so, then you will be delighted to find out that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has just revealed its annual plastic surgery procedures top. So, according to the annual plastic surgery statistic, it appears that approximately 15.5 million US citizens opted for minor improvements, while 1.8 million underwent major plastic surgery in order to alter their appearance.

Although the American Society of Plastic Surgeons declared that there were no major changes compared to 2015, the renewed statistic shows that more and more US citizens are willing to undergo labiaplasties – a surgical procedure aimed at improving the appearance of the female genitalia.

Now, as far as the list of plastic surgeries is concerned, it appears that 2016’s most sought after surgery procedure is breast augmentation. The statistic shows that during last year, 290,467 patients from the United States chose to undergo the procedure to improve either the breasts’ volume and shape.

The second most popular surgery according to ASPS’ list is liposuction, with over 235,000 US citizens demanding it. Moving on, the list reveals that the third most demanded plastic surgery procedure of 2016 was rhinoplasty, aimed to improve the nose’s appearance. During the same year, the researchers noted that 209,020 people sought to get away from saggy eyelids by undergoing eyelid surgery.

And last, but not least, over 131,000 North Americans decided that it’s high time to get rid of neck and face wrinkles, by opting for a facelift surgery.

Now, as we’ve mentioned at the beginning of this article, the statistic published on the 1st of March also included the most popular minor plastic surgery procedures of 2016. So, according to this top, last year’s most sought after the minimally invasive procedure was, without a doubt, botox injection, demanded by approximately 7 million US citizens.

One the second place, we have the soft-tissue fillers, a procedure very similar to Botox injections. According to the top, it appears that over 2.6 million people sought this procedure. The last three places are occupied by chemical peels (1.36 million), laser hair removal procedures (1.1 millions), and microdermabrasion (775,000 patients).

All in all, the researchers who worked on the annual plastic surgery statistic declared that there are no major changes compared to 2015’s results. However, it would seem that more and more people have become interested in undergoing labiaplasties.
