So far the ban on gay marriages in Arizona is contested by lawyers who state the ban is unconstitutional due to an appeals court ruling.
However, the lawyers for the Arizona Attorney General, Tom Horne asked a federal judge to hold off on overturning the ban because of an order from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals hasn’t yet become finalized.
Thursday was the deadline for any future filings regarding the case by US District Judge John Sedwick. Because the court that oversees Arizona already ruled that similar bans in the states of Idaho and Nevada were found to be unconstitutional.
That didn’t stop gay marriage pundits from petitioning and filing a supporting brief on Wednesday to get Judge Sedwick to immediately put the squash on the Arizona gay marriage ban.
Arizona’s laws define marriage as between being between only a man and a woman The Christian legal group known as Alliance Defending Freedom represents Arizona for free in two of the marriage cases but Horne’s office filed the leading arguments.
Now that the odds are against Arizona’s ban on gay marriages the legal community and country are watching to find out which way this will turn out. Appeals regarding any decision are going to be issued once the decisions are made but Arizona has a slim chance, very slim chance to get protected against the court in regard to their ban.
