Census Bureau recorded a population decrease in one of the largest counties in Kansas.
Shawnee County is located northeast of Kansas. The entire region bears historical significance. It was among the 33 counties named by the very first territorial legislature in 1855. Its own name inspired from the culture of Native Americans, and it was the title of one of the tribes. It is one of the most populous counties in Kansas which makes it a representative of its kind. However, Census Bureau has some worrisome news regarding this region.
The Census Bureau Just Released Figures Concerning Kansas State
On Wednesday, the Census Bureau published new estimates regarding the population in one of the largest counties in Kansas. The paper does highlight a higher number of births than deaths. On the other hand, the situation becomes unbalanced once again when looking at the departures. There are more people leaving Shawnee County than those who are coming in here for the first time.
The evaluation of the agency is that the population in the county is a four year straight low. Back on July 1st, 2015, there were 178,541 citizens. This number is down by 395 persons as on July 1, 2016, the evaluation showed an estimated number of 178,146.
Census Bureau did calculate the demographics of the entire U.S. state of Kansas for the period of one year. The document appeared last December. According to it, the entire population decreased by around 12,000 individuals. These are just the members that left Kansas due to migration over one year span. On the other hand, the state as a whole registered more births than deaths. Thus, there were 2,290 newborns and 1,801 deceased.
Kansas Has Also Received New Wave of People from outside U.S.
The Census Bureau is a principal artery in the U.S. Federal Statistical System. The organization is responsible for collecting data about the American population as well as the economy. The primary task is to conduct the U.S. Census every ten years. As a secondary job, the agency carries on periodical surveys and estimations. The federal government usually depends on this type of data to create its foreign trade indicators.
This spring, the Bureau plans to publish more estimates of the demographics in municipalities as well as in the city of Topeka. Last such report in December indicated that the state of Kansas has to deal with a migration issue. The population decreased for that reason by 12,744 persons. On the other hand, the state gained 5,851 migratory people from outside America. By comparison, the largest annual wave of population reduction due to migration was of 7,857 members.
