Eco-friendly companies seem to fund climate deniers
These days it is hard to trust what companies are saying. According to Reuters, American companies who supported Barack Obama’s climate regulations are also donating money to climate deniers. We are talking about big companies. For example, PepsiCo or Google said they are eco-friendly. In the same time, they were giving money to campaigns which do not believe in global warming.
The companies said that they consider more issues before they decide which campaigns are worthy of financial support. Moreover, they said that they invested billions of dollars in cleaner technologies. They also tried to convince their users to pay more attention to climate change.
There are many people who do not think that global warming is a real threat. They are called climate deniers. The problem is that most of them are involved in politics or have the most popular companies in the world. However, researchers showed that the ice is melting and people and animals have already felt the side effects of global warming.
Reuters looked at 30 companies what said they are going to help president Barack Obama with his climate regulations. From those companies, 25 gave also money to climate deniers. It is very hard for us to understand what they have in mind. Are they against global warming or it is just a marketing campaign?
Laren Compere from Asset Management said that there should be a connection between policy and giving money. There is no company that wants to be seen as supporting climate policies while funding climate deniers. After this discovery, we are expecting more companies to stop giving money to the climate deniers. If they continue to do this thing, it is possible to lose their customers’ trust. They do not want this to happen.
Even though there will always be people who will not understand why climate change is a problem, there are others who try to make some changes. There were scientists who asked Barack Obama to fight against the companies who do not believe in global warming. While the companies have these arguments, there are people in Alaska who have to move because their homes are in danger. The sea level will rise and cities from the United States will be underwater. Some people just do not want to believe this until they will see with their own eyes.
