Cross-eyed kittens have a history of taking over the hearts of internet users worldwide.
First there was the Lion Clarence who won over the heart of millions of Americans, not it is the time of Bum. The cross-eyed kitten won over the internet with its soppy expression.
Even though Clarence’s gaze was not the most frightful thing in the world, the lion did manage to inspire fear into the hearts of its fans. One roar from the blonde feline and everybody would forget about the cute crossed-eyes and start fleeing for their life. But this is definitely not the case of Bum because the cross-eyed kitten won the internet with the most innocent of faces.
The story of Bum starts at a shelter in San Diego, California. Courtney, a 24 years old worker at the Humane Society in San Diego recalls falling in love with the tiny cross-eyed kitten at first sight, well first and second in the case of Bum.
According to Courtney, Bum, and his siblings were abandoned by somebody and a Good Samaritan found them and brought them to the Humane Society in San Diego. The rest of the story is history, a love at first sight history between Bum and Courtney.
But don’t think that Bum’s name has anything to do with the fact that he was abandoned, homeless and with a continuous sad expression on his tiny face. Au contraire, Courtney decided to name the little eagle-viewed cat Bum in honor of the pitcher from the San Francisco Giants, Madison Baumgartner, Courtney’s favorite baseball player.
The humane society worker says that the cross-eyed kitten may look funny and give the impression that he has difficulty focusing on things, but it is not the case. Courtney says she took little Bum to the vet and he checked out ok. Apart from the birth defect, the miniature Clarence, the Lion is perfectly healthy.
Apart from her work at the Humane Society of San Diego, Courtney also fosters injured cats that are recovering or cats that are waiting to be adopted. She says Bum is the best assistant she ever had, showing great interest in the well-being of his fellow felines in distress.
Bum has helped Courtney take care of several litters since he, himself, was adopted into a forever loving home. And even though he is a bit of a shy guy, once he warms up to a person he could be the sweetest kitten in the world.
There are plenty of cats in shelters, who may not be as cute as the cross-eyed kitten who won the heart of the internet, but who are in need of a home.
