During the night, the brainless slow-moving zombies become fast rabid hunters that make you stick to roofs and high places in order to live to tell the tale.
The zombie-killing parkour extravaganza Dying Light Enhanced Edition will come free of charge for previous owners of the game, without the added DLC expansions. If you want to have all the DLCs up to this point, as well as the new The Following expansion, you can purchase the entire Enhanced Edition for $60.
Even if the game is a little old by now, Dying Land has managed to do what Dead Island wanted to do in the first place: an immersive zombie survival experience with the added fun of crazy weapons. These weapons range from fire-spewing katanas to electrified pickaxes, making every zombie in the game rue to the day it crossed your path.
But Dying Light came with something unexpected, besides the zombie-killing fun. It had an extremely detailed and fluid parkour system as well as a bone-chilling night time period, when the hunter became the hunted. The game shifted abruptly when the sun set, making you crouch and pray that you wouldn’t be spotted, compared to the frantic parkour running during the day.
Most players who didn’t want to risk their demise, or just wanted to take a breather opted to stay indoors in order to avoid the rabid infected and live to parkour another day. The combat system was also pretty good when compared to other zombie games, with a complex melee system, and a low emphasis on gunplay, due to the extreme lack of bullets.
The enhanced version update will come free and it will bring over 100 new animations, improved graphics and stability on consoles, as well as better enemy AI and added difficulty settings. The level cap was also removed, allowing players to become veritable zombie slaying gods.
Even if the game flew for some players, some of them still play the game to this day, either in co-op or in the invasion mode of the game, Be The Zombie. It still holds up to this day as a pretty enjoyable experience, with countless hours of fun in drop kicking zombie skulls from afar or by whacking them over the head with an immense rebar.
The added DLCs are available for purchase through the season pass, and if users want to, they can pay for it and receive the new expansion The Following as well when it releases this December 8th. The price of the season pass will get raised after that date, so if you want to grab it cheap, you better be fast about it.
But if you don’t want to dabble in the new expansion, Dying Light Enhanced Edition will come free of charge for previous owners of the game, allowing you to experience the new animations and enhanced enemy AI for free. If they managed to improve the AI during the night, expect to get some pretty blood-curdling meet-ups with some fairly nasty infected in the near future, making you consider if daring the night is actually worth the sacrifice.
