According to the recent reports revealed that, the Facebook has apologized to drag queen users for deleting their Facebook accounts because of the policy violation on using ‘real names’.
Facebook dubbed people to use authentic names on Facebook Profiles, which they use in their real lives.
The company had revealed that there were several hundred accounts of a single user for breaching our policy former month.
However, Chris Cox, Chief Product Officer told that, the experience had been painful for those involved in this illegal act.
He further said, “I make an apology to the community affected including drag queens, drag kings, transgender, and widespread community of our friends, neighbors, and members of the LGBT community for the hardship that we have put you through in dealing with your Facebook accounts over the past few weeks.”
Room for improvement
A Transgender Law Center’s spokesperson, Mark Snyder stated to the AFP News Agency that street protest planned on Thursday would become a festivity now.
He further stated that, “It seems quite clear that the Facebook is remorseful and really serious in finding solutions, so that we all could be our genuine selves online.”
These were not only the drag queens who were involved in this illegal action. But judges, social workers, teachers, entertainers and victims of misuse were all vindicated in using fake names, he said.
Although, Facebook had already declared that the users use their real names to avoid misuse and imitation.
But, now Facebook is saying that, “the fortitude of our policy is that all the Facebook users’ uses the genuine/ real name, which they use in real life”.
Moreover, the company stated that there were not just drag queens but also hundreds of other fake IDs reported every week. Mr Cox said further said that, ” We are hoping that there is still a room for improvement in the treatment and enforcement mechanisms, tools for understanding who’s real and who’s not.”
He upholds that the Facebook’s policy of entailing real names was still, on poise, a good plan.
