In its initiatives to remain relevant in an industry of improving texting applications, Microsoft is constantly powering up Skype with various new functions, a strategy that the company hopes it will entice new customers to use its online communication system. This has become even more important since all major competitors try to attract the largest possible segments of consumers, by allowing users of other platforms to access their own services.
This is exactly the move that Skype’s group of specialists is intending to achieve with the inclusion of the newest option of Skype for Mac or Microsoft. In a short press conference, the group has declared that customers can now send links to their personal Skype conversations to other users without having them to make or log into a Skype profile.
Earlier this week, Microsoft’s officials were eager to present something new for Skype’s enclosed system of communication: a tiny change that can make a major difference on how individuals use Skype for their daily activities. They have begun to implement the possibility for customers to invite other people to take part in a Skype conversation by offering them an exclusive link for a certain Skype chat. This link can be sent however they prefer, whether it is an e-mail, a Facebook, Messenger, Twitter or WhatsApp account.
The new function allows Skype’s clients to generate their unique links for these online chats by simply selecting the +New key. This option will make the links, which then can be given to other individuals through any online platform of communication. On the other side, people who are welcomed to Skype conferences can instantly click these web links to go to their Skype user interface, type their login data and start communicating right away.
Skype’s invitational links can also be distributed via iOS and Android operating systems, whose users can be a part of the online chats on their mobile devices, once they log into their Skype account. In the next months, the company’s technicians guarantee to allow customers to talk on smart phones even without requiring a Skype account. For now, the function is only offered for the Web interface and is available only to customers in the United States and England, although the software producer says that the option will be launched in other nations in the upcoming months.
While this option is obviously focused on casual people who would like to talk to their loved ones, the feature is still good for business clients who want to take part in less official discussions with colleagues, associates or customers without having them to install the Skype program to their Macs or PCs.
Microsoft, actually, has been considerably improving Skype’s features for business customers lately. This week, it was also announced that Microsoft removed its Lync for iOS platform and changed it with a program especially created for business requirements. The new system provides a series of new functions, such as synchronized discussions and more powerful security functions, targeted at entrepreneurs.
