Recently, Scientists discovered that Polynesian people, also known as Rapa Nui interacted with other groups as well.
A genetic study revealed that the indigenous people who lived near the Pacific Islands came in contact with Americans before Western people. It stated that the indigenous populations of Western people arrived in Polynesia in 1722
On the other hand, American reached that island long before that particular time period of Westerns. These Polynesian formed a really distinctive culture which later on became a part of Eastern culture. They carved human figures on the rocks between the time period of 1250 and 1500. Some of these statues are still located at the Reno Raraku, whereas the rest of them are transferred to other places.
The culture dominates the entire Europe till the end of the 16th century.
Scientists examined the genetic structure of 27 Polynesian which disclosed that the contact between native people and Rapa Nui began in the time period of 1300 and 1500
Anna-Sapfo, a geneticist of the University of Copenhagen notified that there are certain proof emerged which indicated towards the genetic transfer of population and Native Americans. A migration route is the chief cause behind this is interaction.
These evidences signify that any one of these two groups (Rapa Nui and Native Americans) took a trip to the Easter Island. However, the chances are of Rapa Nui migration is more than the Native Americans.
The report is printed in the Thursday’s edition of Journal Current Biology.
