Google Hangouts Now Has Standalone Website
Google Hangouts currently obtained its own dedicated website, while its interface design has also been improved. It has reached the ranks of similar app Facebook Messenger, with instant messaging platforms getting more and more popular these days.
Google Hangouts’ web domain starts being active begging with August 18th.
Google Hangouts made its debut in May 2013. It congregated and replaced three Google messaging products: Google Talk, Google+ Messenger, and Hangouts, the latter being the video chat platform present within Google+. The initial Google Hangouts app was designed to include instant messaging, video, SMS and VoIP features. Moreover, it integrated options that had been previously assigned to Google Voice.
Moreover, the communication platform developed by Google that now has its standalone website follows the same conventions as the previous Google Hangouts interface, meaning that your list of contacts is featured on the left side, whereas your conversations unfold as separate tabs on the right.
An indicator button will also be available to show whether your contacts are either on or offline. It has never been easier to examine your previous conversations begin a video or phone call, as you would’ve proceeded with the initial app.
However, the option of Hangouts featuring in your Gmail is still available. The Hangouts desktop app can still be used also. But if you can handle all the tabs, the new application is suitable for you.
The links on the brand new page allows you different variants to connect, especially the Android and iOS Hangouts app and the Chrome application which permit you to connect regardless of what page you have open.
The omnipresent menu at the top right of Google pages will allow you to access the service, which has gained its place among other apps such as photos, gmail, drive, calendar, maps and more.
Tech analysts claim that Google’s strategy of introducing brands on standalone websites is correlated with their intention of competing or even “dethroning” products coming from Microsoft, Snapchat and Facebook, for instance.
In comparison to the features of Facebook, where its Messenger has become the most prominent, and Snapchat’s stories which have gained ground, Google has firmly enhanced everything regarding its Hangouts.
