With its amazing graphical aesthetic and generally dark and depressing mood, This War of Mine should be a sure buy for tablet owners this Christmas.
With the gift-giving holiday just around the corner, massive sales are starting to pop everywhere and smartphones will not be left behind, as Google Play Holiday Sale offers major 95% discounts to a variety of games and services.
If you wanted to try your wits while raiding tombs with Lara Croft, the critically acclaimed, Hitman GO inspired, Lara Croft GO has its price brought down to $0.99. On the other hand, if you want a more joyful approach to your problems, then Lego Batman Beyond Gotham is the game for you, at only $0.99. The witty and extremely engaging adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode, developed by famous Telltale Games, is up for grabs for only $0.10.
One of the best games which are on sale at this point is by far This War of Mine. But players should be advised that this game is not something that you would call an enjoyable experience. In essence, you have to manage a group of war survivors, normal citizens like you and I, left in the ashes of a war that ravaged their country. You have to scavenge, protect yourself from bandits, fight constant depression while at the same time trying to live for just another day. This War of Mine has been awarded numerous times at various video game award events and has been critically acclaimed worldwide when it first launched on PC. Its mobile port is unexpectedly superb, the game feeling more at home on a tablet than on a PC. It is currently priced at $4.49.
AAA games have got their share of discounts as well, with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Tactics going for $6.99 while Final Fantasy 3 is priced at $7.99. Be warned though, these games will take massive amounts of times to complete, given that they are JRPGs. Depending on the type of games you like to play, these two titles may not be completely to your liking, but the story told by them is by far one of the best stories ever told in the history of gaming.
If you would like to play something a bit more fun and less engaging than the aforementioned title, prepare to run for your life in Rayman Fiesta Run for only $0.25. If you want something even wackier and weird, Goat Simulator is the game for you. Run, jump, headbutt people and buildings, lick stuff to claim them as your own, everything is possible when you run around a physics sandbox as a very angry goat for just $0.99.
Games are not the only ones on discount, with Google Play music offering first-time users a $1 3-month subscription. E-book prices will be down by 80%, movie rentals will cut off 75% of their prices and Newsstand 3-month subscriptions will be only $3. The sale offers go on and on, making Google Play one of the best places where you can benefit from the approaching holiday sale without taxing your wallet too much.
Google Play Holiday Sale offers major 95% discounts starting today, without a conclusive end date attached to them. They will probably last one or two days after the 25th of December, so if you want to take advantage of these low prices, you should hurry up.
