Grandmother Gives Birth To Her Own Granddaughter

"grandmother becomes surrogate"

Kelley and Tracey welcomed their daughter and granddaughter

The best gift there is was offered twice, as a grandmother gives birth to her own granddaughter after becoming a surrogate for her own daughter and her husband. They say that the gift of life is precious, and mothers have the joy of offering such an invaluable thing to their children.

Tracey Thompson was able to offer her daughter such a thing twice.

Kelley (28 years old) and Aaron McKissack (33 years old) had been trying for a long time to start a family. They had gone through three painful miscarriages and numerous infertility treatments over 3 years that were emotionally draining. The last failed attempt was in December, 2014, before the couple started considering another option: surrogacy. The possibility was brought up by their doctor, with the advice that it should be someone they trust.

A surrogate mother would be placed with numerous responsibilities, such as a change of diet, lifestyle, schedule, and numerous other factors, including risks. Kelley asked her mother, Tracey Thompson (54 years old) to become the surrogate for their child. She gladly accepted and underwent a series of examinations. When the bill of health was clean and her uterus was deemed ready, they implanted the 5 day old embryo into the Tracey.

In April, 2015, she became the surrogate mother to her own daughter.

According to Tracey, at that point, it had been years since she had been pregnant, but she was happy to do it again for their daughter. She withstood through numerous dietary changes, checkups, and unending phone calls from Kelley to make sure she took her vitamins, resting and eating properly. Since both were involved, they stated that they were “overly-cautious” with the pregnancy, making sure that everything went on smoothly.

Nine months later, it was time for Tracey to welcome her granddaughter. However, the procedure did not go without a hitch. The doctors needed to perform an immediate C-section since the baby’s heart had stopped beating. However, several hours later and the little 6-pound and 11-ounce baby girl was born without any health complications.

The new mother and grandmother named her affectionately Kelcey, a combination between both their names, Kelley and Tracey. According to the 28 year old mother, the sacrifice was her mother’s “best gift… for a lifetime” and that “nothing beats what she did”. The incredible effort likely crowned Tracey as “the best mom in the world”.

The grandmother said that it also meant the world for her to be able to help her daughter and husband in such a way. It’s nothing no one can buy, and a true testament of a mother’s love.
