Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey stated that a single nurse cannot alter the policies of the entire state.
Kaci Hickox, a nurse who came back from New Jersey spends almost a week inside her home. Nurse did this in order to fulfill the orders of U.S authorities since they asked the nurse not to leave her home as precautions of Ebola virus.
Recently, a state judge rejected the orders of state officials. The judge stated that Hickox has the right to move freely even in public places. She merely has to inform the public Health officials ahead of her travel plans.
The judge issued a four page lengthy order on Friday. In that order he clearly declared that Hickox reports are clear, therefore no one can restrict her movement.
Moreover, the judge ordered the nurse to update the health officials about her health. However, if the health officiers observed any kind of changes in her health then she will have to certainly limit her movements in order to avert the outburst of deadly disease.
The judge’s new order is a modification of the previous one. The last order which came on Thursday forces a lot of restrictions on the movement of Hickox. Nevertheless, the U.S health authorities cannot challenge this order until next hearing which is expected after 10 days.
On the other hand, the governor considers this decision as a “unfortunate”. He stated that the health of the entire nation is his chief concerns. He tried really hard to collaborate with the nurse but in vain as she bluntly refused to collaborate with them.
