Virtual reality was so far used only for entertainment and research purposes. However, the fast food chain of restaurants KFC has just redirected this modern technology towards HR zone. The company has just released a strange Oculus Rift game that uses an oddly realistic method to cook fry chicken. Therefore, all KFC employees will have to beat the game to prove they are worthy of their job.
KFC’s Oculus Rift Game Promoted Colonel Harland Sanders as the Supervisor in the Kitchen
KFC has just introduced in the Oculus Rift collection of games a weird entry that teaches players how to cook fried chicken. The production is entitled ‘The Hard Way: A Virtual Reality Training Experience’ and only KFC employees can access it.
The game employs KFC’s the hard way line to make it more easily recognizable. The production is actually a simulation that initiates players into the secret method through which KFC fries chicken.
However, the atmosphere of the game is far from adopting the usual encouraging learning environment. Instead, the game teaser reveals a steampunk design with creepy Colonel Harland Sanders paintings watching over the kitchen as if management always supervises employees.
At some point, Colonel Sanders informs the player that they cannot leave the game as long as the chicken isn’t cooked right. It is suggested that throughout the game session, the colonel is going to instruct people on how to prepare the food in the KFC way. On top of that, he will be there to inspect the result.
KFC Will Take the Reports of the Game Very Seriously
Once players gain the colonel’s satisfaction, he will release players from their captivity. The next thing they know is that they entered a cozy room where they receive reports on their performance. It turns out that this assessment will be more than just a part of a game. KFC manager will take such reports very seriously in reviewing the evolution of their employees.
While it looks like a marketing stunt at first glance, KFC has actually put in a lot of efforts into this Oculus Rift game. They intend to use it to teach employees the secrets of their signature fried chicken.
