According to researchers, there is a massive black hole lurking in the universe that seems to be about 6 times larger than most other black holes. When the universe was only about 860 million years old, it seems that the black hole was able to consume around 12 billion suns.
In order to get a measurement of the black hole, scientists measure the speed of the gases that surround it. This is then used to see how large the mass is. Black holes today can be inhabited by trillions of stars and have gotten larger over time. Some black holes have even outgrown the galaxies in which they live in.
