This year, the Mega Man series turned 30, and Capcom celebrated it with a special livestream full of exclusive announcements. Starting with spring 2018, Nintendo Switch owners will be able to enjoy all the classic games in the series on their consoles, together with the latest title. This will happen as Switch will host both the two Legacy Collections and the 11th game in the series.
The Mega Man Legacy Collections also bring amiibo support
If you own a Switch, you will soon get to enjoy both Mega Man Legacy Collections. However, what is even greater is the fact that they’re both compatible with amiibo. The first Legacy Collection was first launched only on Nintendo 3DS, and had amiibo support there. On the other hand, the second Collection hasn’t been available on any Nintendo consoles.
Amiibo support is great, as it offers players more content. On Nintendo 3DS, scanning an amiibo in any Mega Man game unlocked 11 new levels. However, these levels were available only in the Challenge mode, so you had to get ready for a more intense gameplay.
More surprises are prepared for Switch players
The Legacy Collections will offer players all the Mega Man games, paired up with a Rewind option which lets them try again the moves when they make mistakes. However, these options aren’t a Switch exclusive, as they also come on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
However, the best goodies have been kept for Switch players. Apart from receiving all Mega Man games through the Legacy Collections, they will also get to play the 11th game in the series. This is the only new title released since 2010. Capcom is also working on more surprises for Switch owners, as they’re preparing a collection of all games in the Mega Man X series.
