Recently, a Reddit user reported that somebody was providing Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew samples at the Kent State campus, other customers were cynical. It couldn’t be genuine, right?
However, it was real. Quartz stated, “A Pepsi representative confirmed that Doritos-flavored “Dewitos” Mountain Dew test was real.”
A representative said in a press statement, “We’re always trying out new tastes of Mountain Dew, and providing our fans a voice to decide the new product has always been vital to us. We opened up in the DEW flavor vault and gave students an opportunity to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a little program at colleges and universities.”
Let’s all take the time to daydream a good actual Mountain Dew vault, hidden deep underneath the Mountain Dew…mountain (that is near the Tropicana orange grove), guarded by clones of the unique Quaker Oats pacifist. ( Are you aware Pepsico has a minimum of 22 billion-dollar brands? That’s frightening.)
Daydream over! The Reddit user who tried the brand new Dew at Kent State University continues to state that the drink, “…wasn’t that horrible. It flavored like orange having a doritos after taste. It flavored like straight doritos later on though. The strangest thing I’ve ever drunken.”
Who knows if we’re being honest – expected atrocity will ever go wide. However, with two brands so connected? It wouldn’t be a shock –at least not as much of a surprise as Mountain Voltage.
Based on the views of the Reddit user who attempted to try the Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew, the experience was remarkably not appalling.
