Finally, NASA’s Mars rover curiosity reached at the base of Mt.Shape. Scientists believe that this base of a rock retains hints if there is another planet like Earth that contain some signs of microbial life.
The rover, which is nearly of a ton reached at a very old impact basin in the month of August 2012. It speedily unearthed an area within the Gale Crater landing site. The place was chemically and geologically appropriate for the similar sort of rock eating microbes typically found on Earth.
The chief aim of the mission met was to discover environmental places which could have hosted life and protected the signs of its existence. It was certainly a very difficult task for scientists.
Scientists presume that their best chance to accomplish this task is inside Mount Sharp. Mount Sharp is a 5 km high mountain rising from the heart of Gala Crater.
On Thursday, Scientists declared that Curiosity rover after wandering for 18 months at last reached the base of Mount Sharp. All credit goes to a sudden decision of scientist to try a new path which would be more suitable for the damaged wheels of the rover.
John Grotzinger, a geologist of California Institute of Technology informed that that Curiosity will arrive at the top of the rock known as Pharump Hills after a short time period of two weeks. It is the same location where the samples of Mount Sharp real estate will be made.
Earlier scientist expected to cross over the an area known as Murray Buttes. It is the border line of the cratered plains of Gale Crater and comparatively smooth rocks of Mount sharp.
Earlier this month a panel of NASA criticized the Curiosity group for short changing the main objective of the mission. In the middle of the mission the Curiosity team decided to stop driving and begin drilling.
