A few Japanese sources released an unofficial information these days, according to which the company will soon stop its Wii U manufacturing. This move could be intended to make space for the next NX, but Nintendo is currently infirming this speculation.
The sources affirmed that Wii U’s production would allegedly be stopped during the course of this year. The causes for this move are a decrease of popularity in comparison to the famous Wii gaming console and the concern that the device will not be capable to return in the premium segment.
Also, the document notices that creating gaming activities for Wii U has been very hard for the companies considering the console’s specific characteristics. A 2016 cease for Wii U would put it in line with the release of Nintendo’s newest system, tentatively known as Nintendo NX.
The company fought to make its Wii U a lot more famous worldwide, even if it was launched four years ago, even before Sony PlayStation 4 or Microsoft Xbox One. Its gaming console was missing the graphical features, Internet performances or third-party application assistance of its rival.
However, this tablet was not as cellular or user-friendly as its iOS and Android counterparts. Nintendo’s Wii U was released in Nov 2012 and sold more than 12 million units globally, marking an immense success for the franchise.
According to these sources, organizations produce Wii U components have already stopped manufacturing some of those vital elements for the console. However, they affirm that development for the upcoming Wii U games will continue as before and this appears to be the company’s strategy to prevent unwanted Wii U stock when its NX is released later in 2016.
But Nintendo has denied all these speculations launched on several gaming boards. A Nintendo representative informed the Japanese tech sites that this is not an official statement from the company. The representative said that from April and next semester as well, the manufacturing of Wii U will be continued with no pauses.
While the gaming maker denied this newest rumor, please keep in mind that the document has a solid reputation when it comes to Nintendo gossips. Nowadays, the company’s inventory boomed after it discovered its first cellular success in the recently launched application, Miitomo.
The game is currently on top of the Japanese online sales. Even if the company will stop the production of its tablet, there are no formal details on whether and when the device will cease being marketed by video suppliers.
