For the second time in several weeks, the Miami Heat Center has been suspended by the NBA. During Monday’s loss to the Celtics, Whiteside decided to strike Kelly Olynyk. It wasn’t the only confrontation the two had during the game. Earlier, Whitehead had initially swung his elbow, but the blow that got him suspended was when Whitehead put a forearm into the back of Olynyk’s neck. He was ejected from the game when the call was upgraded to a Flagrant 2. His teammates condemned his actions on the court and questioned his maturity.
This is the second ejection in 5 games. Afterwards, Whiteside made an apology to everyone. He has recently paid out $40,000 in league fines for his behavior. He will have to get his act together if wants to continue playing for the Heat. Whitehead has been very productive when he plays, which makes a loss of Whitehead very hard on the team.
