Seemingly every day comes with a new trend. While some of them might be healthy and good for the body, others might actually be dangerous.
One of the latest trends implies drinking raw water. People who believe in it mentioned that they want to drink the water that nature intended to give to them. This means that they are willing to consume water without any treatments with chlorine, chemicals, and other substances.
The Raw Water Craze and Its Effects
People are selling raw water bottles for good money, with more and more people taking this up on the West Coast. Water safety practices recommend that H2O should go through several processes before people can drink it.
Officials from the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch at the CDC mentioned that people need to be aware of the fact that raw water contains certain bacteria much more dangerous than the chemicals used to clean it.
The water debate has been going on for years. People are wondering where the H2O they drink comes from and about the way it is preserved. Some fear that treated water might contain dangerous levels of lead. Also, a number of communities don’t want to add fluoride when treating waters.
Experts mentioned that water supply in the US is actually safe and that people shouldn’t worry about the chemicals used to treat it. On the contrary, they might want to find out more about the raw water movement before they get sick from drinking it.
Some of the people supporting the raw water trend believe that there are certain minerals which get lost during the filtration process.
In fact, experts did mention that raw water contains more minerals than filtrated one. Despite, they fear that this water might also come with more viruses and bacteria. Specialists suggested that it is simply not worth it to drink this water for the minerals and expose ourselves to these viruses.
