It turns out that a cluster of stars are no longer where scientists once thought they were. The worst part is no one knows exactly where they are at this point. According to pictures taken from the Hubble Space Telescope, a massive amount of stars can no longer be found. There are several theories as to where exactly these stars may be, but there is no proof making them anything more than just theories.
One theory rests on the ideas that the stars were kicked out to make a new home somewhere in the galaxy. While this may be true, scientists have pictures of the galaxy and so far do not see the missing stars anywhere. In order to prove this theory scientists look to the Fornax galaxy where they have pictures of the entire galaxy and see no misplaced stars anywhere.
Another theory that is circulating is the idea that the stars were not even there to begin with. While this could be true, it is hard to find evidence that this was actually the case. A more likely theory is that some of the old stars and new stars joined together. While this could have easily happened, the composition of the stars doesn’t prove this theory to be true either. If this were the case, scientists would see more older stars than newer ones and right now it seems to be split half and half.
The most likely store is that the booted stars took up residence around the outskirts of the galaxy and blended in. Scientists across the world are puzzled at the idea that a huge mass of stars are missing and no one knows where they may be. It looks like scientists will have to go back to studying pictures and hopefully develop a theory that may actually be right.
