According to the reports of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration revealed on Thursday, the preceding was believed to be the hottest AUGUST recorded for worldwide average temperature on the land and the ocean surfaces.
The agency revealed in its initial monthly climate report that the Augusts’ temperature was 1.35 degrees over the 20th century average.
Jake Crouch, a climate scientist at NOAA, noting that record-keeping began in 1880, “It seems to be the major exodus from average of any month recorded yet.”
The report further revealed that the month’s average land and ocean surface temperature was 61.45 Fahrenheit (16.35 Celsius), however the 20th century average for August is 60.1°F (15.6°C).
Moreover, the phase of January to August was also the 3rd warmest phase recorded yet, Sapa-AFP report stated.
