SpaceX is planning on sending thousands of near-Earth orbiting Internet satellites into space.
While Elon Musk’s corporate venture, SpaceX, is always looking at the outer space, in the near future they plan on looking back at Earth. A new business plan is being proposed to the government which, if implemented, could place thousands of near-Earth orbiting satellites in space. Their task would be to provide an entirely new level of wireless internet all over the globe.
SpaceX Is Planning A New Internet Satellites Network
These internet satellites will go into a low-Earth orbit, between 1,110 and 1,325 kilometers above the planet. They will use the Ka- and Ku- band frequencies. The company hopes to provide wireless internet at high speeds, even in extremely remote areas.
Right now there are estimated to be 1,459 satellites in orbit around our planet. This Internet satellites network would massively increase that number. And this is without taking into consideration any other potential ventures.
