Due to this distemper outbreak, Stray Rescue is going to be closed for the next few weeks.

Stray Rescue has a distemper outbreak that has caused the death of more than 15 dogs. The shelter is now closed because of this problem. More than 5 dogs are currently ill and others show signs of this disease. Distemper is a disease that affects animals, especially dogs and can’t be cured.

Tests have come positive for K-9 Distemper which is very contagious. The ones that are the most affected by this illness are puppies because they are more sensitive. The puppies catch viruses faster than adult dogs.

The founder of the shelter, Randy Grim reached out to an organization, Maddies Fund, which deals with this type of problems. This organization has the best technology and can combat disease outbreaks in animal shelters.

This distemper outbreak is nationwide and it started from infected raccoons. The owner of the shelter warned all pet parents to vaccinate their animals against distemper. Due to this distemper outbreak, Stray Rescue is going to be closed for the next few weeks.

All veterinarians are cautioning pet owners to stay alerted and take care of their animals because the virus spreads very rapidly. This disease is a respiratory one and it can affect every animal but is it more commonly found at dogs. Not every dog can catch distemper but if any dog shows signs of respiratory problems they need to be taken to a doctor as soon as possible. The biggest problem is that there is still no cure for distemper.

Despite the fact that Stray Rescue has the possibility to save and shelter more than 400 they are not going to accept any dog in the next month until the distemper outbreak is gone. Randy Grim first suspected that the dogs had a mild sickness known as the kennel, which can be cured.  The founder of the shelter became suspicious once more and more dogs fell ill.

In order to stop the distemper outbreak, the staff from the shelter is taking every measure that they can. First, they will test every animal and then they will separate those who are ill from those who did not catch the disease. They promise to make all that they can for these animals. They also want to raise some money for this cause so that they are better equipped and they can provide special treatment for the dogs.
