Study Shows How Water Is Older Than The Sun & Solar System

The recent research revealed that, part of water is older than sun.

Water is a key part of life on Earth or anywhere and also a sign for alien life as well. This is why most of the world’s space missions and astronomical research is aimed at finding indication of it on another planet. Currently, the astronomers revealed that Earth’s water predates the formation of sun.

Eventually, the group of scientists who ran computer models is evaluating the ratios of hydrogen isotopes. According to the recent insights, the solar nebula consists of less ionizing radiation than earlier scientists believed. This research indicated that some part of the water in this world is even older than the sun, solar system and the moon.

Professor Tim Harries (University of Exeter’s Physics and Astronomy Department) stated that, “This believes to be a crucial step in our mission to discover if life exists on other planets.”

Recent insights discovered that, the solar nebula consists of less ionizing radiation than it was previously believed. The models stated that some parts of the water originated in ocean, comets, as well as meteorites and on the moon, which actually predate the sun’s origin. There is just one option that it is formed in the cold, the interstellar cloud from which the sun itself created, researchers claimed.

Conel Alexander revealed about the planet forming disks around young stars. These disks act as a shield from galactic rays developed due to strong solar winds which drastically changing the chemistry happening within the disks. Though, the astronomers believed that it seems very difficult for the region present within the disks to synthesize new molecules.

The result of the study disclosed that, it seems very difficult for the region present within the disks to synthesize new molecules. Cleeves wrote in an email to Discovery News stating that, “This was actually an ‘aha’ minute for us. The only place these gases would have come from, without creating water, was the chemically rich interstellar gas from which the solar system formed.”

She further stated that, “it’s quite astonishing that these ices endured the entire procedures of stellar formation.”

The study result has suggestions concerning search for life beyond Earth, as water appears to be necessary part of life.

“If the sun was formed through the conventional interstellar ices, including water, are expected to have common elements needed for the creation of all planetary systems that set a magnificent view on the prospect of other life in the universe,” Cleeves added.

Water Discovery on 5 Alien Planets

Additionally, it’s not believed to be only water which is expected to endure the solar system formation.

Alexander wrote in an email to Discovery News stating, “This might be true for the organic matters, which we all know, is there, in molecular cloud ices. So, I believe this actually strengthens the study that we have interstellar organic matters in comets and meteorites too.”

Still more research is being done on this subject and short after this research, many scientists around the world started to divert their researches on this project too.

In addition, it’s not believed to be only water which is expected to endure the solar system formation. “This might be true for the organic matters, which we all know is there in molecular cloud ices. So, I believe this actually strengthens the case that we have interstellar organic matters in comets and meteorites too,” Alexander wrote in an email to Discovery News.
