Google Photos Adds Support for Live Images on iOS

March 8, 2016 By Chen Lai Leave a Comment

google-photos-appGoogle Photos received a nice new upgrade that brings Live Photos assistance for iOS, which indicates that people can now store their animated images. The search engine has worked a lot to make its separate Photos app useful for customers, adding various developments and options to improve the experience.

Its newest upgrade now finally enables Live Images back up, displaying the pictures at maximum resolution. Apple presented this feature in iOS 9.1 and iPhone 6s/6s Plus mobile phones, offering the option on the iPads too.

Other applications, however, needed to add assistance for its Live Photos function, so Google Photos will now be part of this select group. Google’s service has several nice features, such as the possibility to back up the whole picture collection, arrange the photos and look through all pics and vids find the best image.

People can either save their photos personally or activate automatic backup and each picture people take is easily submitted to the Google Cloud for later on. With the newest upgrade, the new support for iOS currently expands the same options for Live Photos too, enabling customers to save, arrange and look through the pictures even when they remove them from Camera Roll.

After all Live Images are posted via the app, people will be capable to see their animation by utilizing Force Touch on a picture, just as they would do in the picture gallery. For improved organization and simpler access, all pictures are also marked with a “Live Photo” symbol in the upper area of the display, so customers know instantly that it is not just a static image.

Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning that installing Live Photos directly from Google’s Photos service to the gadget through iCloud’s Photo Sharing would no longer display the animation, but only the static picture.

To have a fully animated picture, people would need to save their Live Photo directly from the Google’s back-up platform to Camera Roll. This way, it will be utilizable in Apple’s Photos application. The even better news comes after Live Photos’ support on the Google Photos service, which appears to have become retroactive.

Until now, customers who stored their pictures on Google Photos saw them just as static pictures. Now, this upgrade animates their Live Images even if these were supported several weeks ago. The upgrade is now available and live for downloading from the Apple App Store, and people can test it and offer their feedback to the company.
