An injured agent of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection passed away a few days ago.
The American authorities are currently looking for suspects and witnesses in the Big Bend area in Texas. The operations come after an agent from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been deadly injured while working in the area. President Trump recently reacted to the tragic news about the injured agent.
Mysterious Cause of the Injured Agent Incident
For the moment, the Border Patrol spokesmen declared on Sunday that they couldn’t offer the press any details about the incident. We don’t know what led to the injuries the agent suffered and what is their exact cause. Carlos Diaz, a spokesman, declared that the FBI took over the case and they are currently investigating.
Douglas Mosier, who is another spokesman, offered more details about the agent. Named Rogelio Martinez, the man was 36 years old. Together with his partner, the injured agent was taken to a local hospital, where he later passed away. His partner, whose name was not released, is currently in a serious condition. Martinez has been working at the border since 2013, and he came from El Paso.
Trump Reacts to the News
In his already famous style, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to express his opinion on the matter. On Sunday night, he tweeted on the topic in a series of other unrelated messages. Trump declared that they would seek out and hold responsible the people who caused this incident. He took advantage of this opportunity and renewed his call for building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
Border Patrol Officer killed at Southern Border, another badly hurt. We will seek out and bring to justice those responsible. We will, and must, build the Wall!

According to the Border Patrol website, 38 agents have died in that area since the end of 2003. Some of them were attacked while doing their job at the border, while others died in traffic accidents. On the other hand, the mountains in the Big Bend region, as well as the Rio Grande, make it a difficult area for the people who want to enter the U.S. illegally.
