NYPD representatives declared the Bronx suspect of the double murder-attempted suicide which took place on Wednesday was listed as being in critical condition. Should he survive the suicide attempt, he will be charged with the murder of his girlfriend and her daughter.
Shots Heard in Bronx Apartment
On Wednesday, at approximately 2:20 a.m., the tenants from an 11-floor apartment building located at 160 East 174th heard gunshots coming from a nearby apartment and alerted the authorities. Several minutes later, the law enforcement officers entered the apartment where the shots were coming
Inside they’ve found a 52-year-old man with a severe gunshot wound to his head, responsive but in critical condition a 54-year-old woman with a similar head wound, and a 29-year-old woman with a severe chest wound.
The man, later identified as Jorge Vega was 54-year-old Susan Trivano’s on and off boyfriend. According to the official reports, Vega and Trivano had a heated argument that day and, in a fit of rage, Vega gunned down Trivano and her daughter.
Trivano, who was shot in the head, was declared dead at the scene. The woman’s daughter was rushed to the local emergency room by the paramedics for surgery, but she passed away later that day. Vega was also rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
At the moment, the man has been listed in critical, but stable condition. If he survives, the author of the double murder-attempted suicide will be brought up on charges.
Double Murder-Attempted Suicide Still Under Scrutiny
Although most of the facts, in this case, are clear, the authorities are still trying to understand what prompted the man to take up arms against his girlfriend and daughter. Moreover, according to the police reports, at the time of the shooting, there were two other persons in the house – a one-year-old infant and another man.
