A new study unveiled that Vytorin, a drug of Merck & co lessen the risk of second heart strokes and attacks in patients. Generally, doctors prescribe Vytorin, which is a combination of Statins and Zeita to reduce the level of bad cholesterol.
Statins is a really famous drug for the treatment of bad cholesterol in the blood. It reduces the cholesterol level present in the liver, whereas Zeita inhibits the absorption of the cholesterol. Unfortunately, Statins do not suit every patient as some people complain about the digestive problems, liver damage and muscle pain.
Therefore, Merck carried out a research at several centers of the world. Researchers closely examined the data of 10,144 patients who were at high risk of a second stroke. They followed the history of patients who were hospitalized nearly six years ago. Later on, the researchers concluded that patients who take Statins along with Zeita reduced the chances of heart strokes up to 6.4 percent.
In a nutshell, the study revealed that patients who take Vytorin faced less heart strokes and heart attacks as compared to the ordinary patients.
The new findings will certainly help numerous patients for whom Statins is useless. Moreover, it would be useful for the patients who experience chest pain and heart attacks every year.
