Innocent woman who spent months behind bars exonerated after falling victim to a “diabolical scheme”, as stated by her lawyer.
After spending several months in jail, 30-yearl-old Michelle Hadley was exonerated after new evidence surfaced, suggesting she was nothing more than a victim in a “diabolical scheme”. The woman was incarcerated after her ex-boyfriend’s wife filed countless police reports claiming she was constantly harassed by Ms. Hadley. On one occasion, the woman claimed Michelle Hadley threatened to kill both her, as well as her unborn child.
On January 6th, however, Angela Maria Diaz was arrested and charged with multiple counts of filing false police reports, deceit, and false imprisonment by menace after prosecutors proved she set Michelle Hadley up. Diaz supposedly sent herself threatening e-mails, going to extreme lengths to make it seem like Ms. Hadley was behind them. Furthermore, she responded to rape fantasy ads online on behalf of Michelle Hadley. Authorities say that Angela Diaz encouraged men to engage in sexual activities forcibly with Michelle Hadley, even though she screams or fights. Luckily, law enforcement officers identified and consequently stopped two individuals that were headed for Michelle’s location.
Michelle Hadley dated Diaz’s husband for two years, from August 2013 to August 2015. The man, whose identity remains concealed married Angela Diaz in 2016, after they met on a dating website in January of the same year.
However, false imprisonment by menace is not the only charge Diaz faces. Authorities discovered the woman also forged checks, attempting to cash more money than she was due. One of those checks came from her employer, and the woman allegedly added $2,000 more to it.
Michelle Hadley says he enjoyed the full support of her family, friends, and legal team who fought to clear her name. Once released from prison, she told the reporters with tears in her eyes that she went through the most traumatic experience so far.
If found guilty, Angela Diaz faces a maximum sentence of 11 years in county jail, in addition to 12 years and eight months in state prison. Last week, the woman was charged with 21 misdemeanor counts of falsely reporting a crime to a peace officer, two felony counts of forgery, one felony count of perjury, two felony counts of kidnapping, two felony counts of possession of a forged check over $950, two felony counts of false imprisonment by menace, and fraud.
