Although the market is flooded with smartphones, something new still seems to pop-out every day and Xiaomi Mi5 launches in February.
Xiaomi is one of the largest tech companies in China and it’s rapidly growing and becoming a competitor to companies like Samsung or Apple. Although their smartphones are not that popular in the US they still hold a large part of the market share in other countries so they mean serious business.
There are many rumors going around about the next launch they are going to have. It is believed there will be a double launch meaning they are going to unveil two models of smartphones: the Mi5 and the Mi5 Plus. The launch will take place on February 22, although some say it might happen sooner as rumor has it employees are working overtime to finish earlier.
Leaving aside the launch date, you are probably interested in what the new Xiaomi smartphones are bringing to the table. First of all, it is said that the phones will be different. They will have different RAM and storage size and a different display resolution.
The Xiaomi Mi5 will have a full HD resolution display on a 5.2 inch screen. The model will have 2.5D curved glass on rear sides and front. The phone will contain a Snapdragon 820 chipset and will have a 3 GB of RAM. It should also include 32 GB of storage for you to keep your files.
The other model, reportedly called Xiaomi Mi5 Plus, although it will also have a 5.2 inch display and a Snapdragon 820 chipset, it will have a metal chassis and will feature Quad HD resolution. Moreover, it will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
Therefore, the two smartphones might look similar, but one of them definitely has more features than the other. The camera will have 16 megapixels and it will sport an OIS feature. The front camera will be of 13 megapixels and you will also have a finger scanner located under the Home button.
The operating system will most likely be Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is modified by MIUI 7.0 UI. The battery will have 3600 mAh. It is expected that the official announcement will be made by the company on January 21, while the official launch will happen in February. Therefore, we have just a few days to wait until we also find out the price of the new Xiaomi smartphones which will hopefully be as great as it’s expected, and why not maybe even exceed expectations.
After all, they are trying to compete with tech giants like Apple and Samsung and they have a lot of competition in Asia from Huawei as well, so it is only natural that they raise the stakes so high.
