A recent study released on Friday reported that after Angelina Jolie’s verdict to make public her double mastectomy, it lifts up the number of Britain women in quest of genetic breast cancer examinations 2-times.
Last year, in the month of May, Angelina Jolie, 39, has publicized her surgery. She said that she took the step of surgery after testing positive for a mutation of BCRA1 gene, which drastically raises the chances of breast cancer. She further told that, I just decided to expose my own story as other women would motivate themselves to struggle against such life threatening disease.
The scientists studied 21 health clinics and district genetic centers and stated that there were 4847 referrals for testing in the month of June – July previous year, in contrast to 1981 in the same time period of the year 2012.
In the breast cancer research Journal, the study named “Angelina effect” was published, which attributed the Angelina’s stunning looks and her relationship with actor brad Pitt who helped her to educate most of the women who resist about having a surgery.
Angelina usually has an image of strong women and the most glamorous actor in Hollywood so she probably has more impact on people in this regards, Gareth Evans said.
