The Social Network is clearly intent on winning over every last bit of the social media world. Along these last years, its main contender, Twitter, has proved to be perceived as being much more reliable for reading the news and especially breaking news, which pop up on the users’ Twitter page as soon as their favorite news publications release it.
Well, it seems that Facebook won’t stand for that any longer, because it is allegedly working on an entirely new app, especially designed for delivering breaking news reports. Naturally, Facebook will develop the app in its own unique style and so the app will only include the best news curators out there.
The breaking news app will send notifications to the user whenever one of the publications included in it posts such a news report. And it will most likely be linked to the Facebook mother-site and app, so that users may share the news with their friends who do not have the breaking news app and maybe convince them to get it.
If this upcoming app will be anything like Messenger, then it will be pretty amazing and will get constant updates and nifty new features that will make staying in touch with the news the new hype thing to do. But what it will also do is to reassert the authority of the Facebook site and app, because the highly specialized interlinking that the social network has perfected keeps adding to the authority of Facebook’s main page.
For the moment, the breaking news app is in an alpha testing phase, which means that it will be quite a while before it will make it onto smartphones near you. But considering Facebook constant need to stay relevant and to remain on top of the social media food chain, it’s been probably working on a solution to outshine Twitter in the news department for quite some time now.
Furthermore, this stand alone app will provide Facebook will the ability to deliver the freshest news to its users, but at the same time maintain its tendency to provide personalized posts on the users’ Facebook pages, that come up not necessarily according to the moment they were posted, but to how relevant and interesting they are expected to be to the user.
It remains to be seen when Facebook will specialize in facilitating news curating, as the social network is expected to release an official statement about its upcoming app in the near future. The breaking news app has tremendous potential and it has all the chances to get people interested in the latest news.
