Researchers designed a new kind of Microbots which are similar to a grain of sand in terms of size. The most noteworthy thing of these microbots is that they can be gathered in a chain. These chains can function as an electrically activated muscle in human beings or any other robots.
The scientists of University of Michigan informed that these microbots can be utilized in the electronics as well. They possess a power through which they can rewire themselves if needed. It will certainly help experts in various fields of life such as medicine, production and many more.
Michael Solomon, the co-author of the study stated that these microbots can even swim inside the human body in order to fight with deadly diseases. They can effortlessly travel in the human bodies in various groups.
Moreover, the scientists showed that gold plating and irregular electric field could compel these rhombus particles to create a chain. Surprisingly, the chain of microbots can even expand to around 36 percent.
These microbots are attracted to each other to some extent. The attractive forces permit them to create chains when they are dipped in salt water. The oblong particles form an unended chain as the scientists increase the level of salt concentration.
The study is printed in 10th November’s edition of Journal Nature Materials.
