An Utah’s expectant mother, who is expecting quadruplets, endures an emergency treatment this week on one set of her twins in order to keep all four babies alive.

Earlier this week, Ashley Gardner, with 19 weeks old pregnancy of her quadruplets went to the doctor where she found that one set of twins was suffering from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare disorder that occurs when there was an uneven distribution of blood supply between the twins in the shared placenta.

Ashley and her husband, Tyson, flew to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in California on Tuesday for the surgery.

Doctors successfully performed the treatment the following day and were able to equally distribute blood between one pair of the twins.

Doctors also performed a cervical cerclage to prevent Ashley’s cervix from opening further, the family said.

Ashley’s pregnancy has been chronicled on their Facebook page, as well as a YouTube channel. The recent update on her Facebook page exposed an ultrasound showing all four babies survived the surgery.

Ashley went back to Utah on Friday and the doctors recommended a strict bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy.

The story of the couple first went live on the social media when they found that they were expecting quadruplets.

The Ashley’s tried vitro fertilization way back in June as she had been struggling to conceive for 8 years. She was suffering from endometriosis, a disorder that may develop fertility problems.

This month, a seven-week ultrasound of Ashley revealed that she is expecting quadruplets – two sets of identical twins. It is a very rare to have two sets of identical twins. It happens once out of every 70 million pregnancies.

The news goes viral over the Internet and soon after, the couple revealed that they heard all four babies are girls.
