Older Versions of the iPad Cannot Be Activated on iOS 9.3

March 23, 2016 By Jason Leathers Leave a Comment

ipad-2 appleApple’s new edition of its cellular OS is causing complications for some users of old iPads. These devices are not able to set up the iOS 9.3 platform and are running very slow during the initial stage. This means that the upgrade results in them being unusable, according to content from Apple’s assistance team website, Twitter posts on the company’s official page and visitors of various Apple-focused boards.

The problems seems to have an impact especially on iPad 2, after specialists noticed that owners are getting verification error alerts when they attempt to activate the iPad post-set up. No matter the period over which a new gadget is examined before is launched in the market, various issues can appear once it discovers the way to large numbers of customers.

As usual, the problem for this producer is to determine how persistent the thing is or how to take care of it fast enough, without affecting more customers. In 2014, Apple encountered a series of serious issues with its iOS 8, a platform that was reputed as being volatile and pressured the company to release a bundle of bug solutions.

The new problem could be caused by over-worked web servers having difficulties to work with a huge number of users who are trying to set up the new program. But numerous iPad customers have not been able to activate the tablets after a whole day of waiting, according to experts.

This delay indicates a different kind of issue affecting the devices. One user on Apple’s assistance site wrote that after setting up the 9.3 version, his iPad did not start despite numerous attempts to do so. He tried all sorts of recommendations from various sources and none of them worked in the first place.

Later, he went to Apple’s local store nearby, but the personal there was not capable to activate the IPad nor recover its data. Some iPad users said that they were capable to solve the bug by linking their gadgets to the iTunes app, while others affirmed they performed a complete restore on their tablets.

People who have older iPad version, particularly iPad 2, might want to delay to upgrade to iOS v9.3 until the issue is solved. If the users proceed with the upgrade, they have to first link to iPad to iCloud or a computer so all information is stored in the case of a sudden glitch between different software.

IDC Report; Tablets Shipment Face Massive Decline in 2014

November 26, 2014 By Germaine Hicks Leave a Comment

decline in tablet sales

As per a new prediction from IDC, the tablet faced a dreadful year.  This year tablets performed pretty badly in the arena of electronics market.

NDP presented a report which demonstrates that sales decreased around 16 percent in the last few months.

Moreover, International Data Corporation (IDC) the tablet market grew merely 7 percent in 2014. Earlier, analysts recorded 53 percent sales in the tablet markets.  The high demand of iPads are the chief reason behind the decline in sales.

On the other hand, this year iPad also suffered from a full year decline. However, the drop in iPad sales failed to leave a mark as visible as tablets.

The release of big screen smartphones such a Samsung Galaxy S5 affected the market of tablets. People no longer feel the need of massive screens.  Hence, the seven inches mini tablet experienced worst sales decline this year.  The sales of such kind of tablets declined around 40 percent in 2014.

Ryan Reith, Director of IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Device Trackers stated that the initial years of tablet market were pretty similar to the smartphone years.  The smartphone companies launch a new version of their product every year. In comparison, the tablet manufacturers usually release new version after a long time period of 3 to 4 years.

Previously, the CEO of Apple said that the launch of new iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 would increase the sales to a large extent. Unfortunately, analysts witnessed nothing remarkable even after the launch of these Apple products.

October 19, 2014 By Germaine Hicks Leave a Comment

Stand out day after Apple announced its most recent tablets, the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, photograph imparting administration Flickr utilized the chance to discharge a shiny new widespread iOS application, at long last bringing a since quite a while ago anticipated local form to the iPad. Back in April of this current year, Yahoo-possessed Flickr discharged a totally re-composed iPhone application, including now-standard altering devices and photograph channels, and additionally constrained, pre-iOS 8 imparting peculiarities. Apple Pokes Fun at Itself In Latest Product Launch Event

October 17, 2014 By Rebecca McGhee Leave a Comment

Apple-pokes-fun-at-itself-while-launch-event

Apple, in a jolly mood and sporting excellent sales numbers, pokes fun at itself while launching updated devices.

On Oct. 16th, the Californian tech giant indicated that it might be bad at keeping secrets. It seems like that the launch event of the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 and the first Mini-Me Mac — sorry, Mac Mini –wasn’t much of a surprise for many people. If truth be told, people were talking about how Apple itself leaked some of the information to certain media members about the launch event before the official onstage announcement.

This seems quite a switch from the jobs reign of years gone by, when most of the company employees intentionally avoided their CEO while walking down the halls. They seem scared that the hysterical genius would probably ask them a question they might not be able to answer.

Colbert as ‘Chief of Secrecy’

To its glory, Apple poked fun at itself on the Oct. 16th launch by announcing in ironic fashion that it has hired comedian Stephen Colbert as a ‘Chief of Secrecy’.

“Get back to work!” said Colbert in a call to CEO Tim Cook onstage. “Do you know what I see when I look at my wrist? MY WRIST.” Laughter from the audience.

For those who don’t follow the humor, his reference was to the Apple Watch, which won’t be in stores until February.

Cook presumably was glad to have Colbert helping out. “I hope he can do a better job than I’ve done [when it comes to handling secrecy],” Cook said with a smile.

Can’t Argue with the Numbers

Well, a famous quote, “Loose lips sink ships” didn’t affect Apple at this launch — not that a single launch event, particularly one that doesn’t introduce a major new product, matters that much in the long run. But Apple was in a jovial mood, no wonder why; though, the business numbers continue to be inspiring indeed. For example:

  • 163 million iPhones have been sold in the last four quarters; 35.2 million in the last quarter alone
  • 225 million iPads have been sold — about a third of them, 70 million, in the last year
  • 675,000 iPad apps are now available in the App Store
  • iMac sales are up 18% — the rest of the PC industry is down 5%
  • Apple Pay goes into general availability on Oct. 20, and 500 banks are now ready for it

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering stated that, Apple fanatics stay on top of upgrades. Moreover, 90% of customers are using an OS that’s a year old or less and that 48% of the installed base are on iOS 8.

Now, let’s talk about the not so surprisingly new and improved devices: the new iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 and the first Mini-Me Mac — oops, my apology again — the Mac Mini.

For sure, it’s seems funny that only a year ago, the regular iPad Air and its brothers and sisters were the “greatest devices in the world.” Now they are just discounted also-rans in comparison to the shiny new devices.

In the subsequent year, the iPad 3 Air will obscure everything that was introduced on 16th Oct and we’ll go round and round once again with the positioning.

Certainly, the iPad Air 2 is lighter, thinner  (“Can you even see it?” Cook, holding it sideways, asked rhetorically), has a better camera, a more powerful processor and more new apps to download. It has the new Retina display. They now come in Space Gray, silver and gold, whatever you like.

On the other hand, the iPad Mini is less pricey and fits a certain market. The Mac Mini also will find an audience. Apple has its basic product lines and is slicing and dicing them to find more and more possible customers. But there was nothing as interesting as the announcement of the Apple Watch and Apple Pay from the September event.

Apple TV? Current Apple TV users are dying out for an upgrade.  But there wasn’t a word about that in the 16th Oct event.

Apple’s barely anxious, though. Only if those iPhones, iPads and Macs keep going out the door, and all that profit keeps rolling into the Infinite Loop, the company can afford to take its time on another new product.
